Change in public attitudes towards architecture and a built environment occurs with a paradigm shift in the quality of life. The launch of Framework Act on Architecture, Korea's first ever Act on architecture and our built environment in 2007 was an acknowledgement of the contribution that architecture has made, and will continue to make, to everyday life. In this vein, it is desirable to set out, at this point, the guidance of an architecture policy to improve the quality of architecture and our built environment.
The purpose of this study is to present the comprehensive goal of architecture policy, with the intent to promote the value and benefits of architecture and our built environment under existing conditions. This study contains preliminary data to develop the framework of the architecture policy, and the case studies of foreign nations which have adopted architecture policies.
