Seminar on the Development Directions of Public Housing Legislation

On March 27, the Housing Culture Research Group of Architecture & Urban Research Institute (AURI) and Dongcheon Foundation held a seminar on the "Development Directions of Public Housing Legislation" at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. This seminar, organized for stakeholders involved in housing legislation and public rental housing, aimed to analyze the current status of domestic rental housing legislation and derive improvement measures. 

The first presentation, titled "Study on the Amendment of Special Act on Public Housing" by Professor Kae-young Choi from Seoul National University School of Law, discussed the restructuring of the legal framework related to the Special Act on Private Rental Housing and provided insights on the amendments of the Special Act on Public Housing. The second presentation, "Study on the Current Status of Social Housing and Improvement Measures" by Chirl Ho Youm, Vice President of AURI, examined the definition and operational status of social housing and explored the guiding principles for implementing diverse residential values. The third presentation, "Analysis and Improvement Directions of New Housing Supply Models for Residential Stability" by Dongsu Yang, CEO of the social innovation enterprise Deoham, proposed new housing paradigms and supply models.

The discussion session was chaired by Wook Yoo, a lawyer from Bae, Kim & Lee LLC, and the participants included Hyun-sook Chun, adjunct professor at Korea University, Namyoung Jin, director of Corea Institute for a New Society, and Gunchul Do, a lawyer from Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. They engaged in a lively discussion on the development directions of social housing.
