Award Ceremony for the 2022 Asian Townscape Awards
Held for Korean Winners

The Architecture & Urban Research Institute (AURI) held the 2022 Asian Townscape Awards Ceremony for Korean winners on January 13, Friday at the institute conference room.

The Asian Townscape Awards is an annual international townscape award held since 2010 with the mission to establish pleasant living conditions for all Asians. AURI has been participating as a co-hosting organization of the award since 2020.

After preliminary screening in Asia, 11 projects from countries such as from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan were selected as finalists through a joint online review by the host organizations and national judges. The winners from Korea were “Add Roads and Forests to the Iron City (Pohang City),” “Hanok Preservation and Promotion Policy of Seoul (Seoul Metropolitan Government),” and “A New Way to Walk the Old City, Yeongdo Modern History Trail Map (Yeongdo-gu, Busan).”

This award ceremony for Korean winners was held separately to share and promote best practices from local governments, as the annual award ceremony held in Fukuoka was canceled due to COVID-19.

The AURI National Landscape Center will continue to discover, support, and establish new ties for excellent cases of landscape management in Korea.
